i received the roomba as a gift in october 09. it's february 11, it doesn't work anymore.

just stopped working, we've cleaned it, taken it apart...it just doesn't work. and apparently this is very common, so common it has it's own name: the circle dance. i'm not sure if we'll even try to deal with customer service bc i heard they are horrible!! i'm sure i would call them if i spent my own money on this but it was a gift.

all that being said, it is an awesome idea.

i have two kids that make quite a mess and it's so helpful. but for $300 it reall should last more than a year and a half...

Monetary Loss: $300.

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina

Roomba unit is extremely dumb. It constantly finds new ways to get trapped under something.

Despite the fact that I have added Velcro "bumpers" on the device to help the unit identify where there is insufficient clearance for it to travel under, the device *insists* on trying to go under. How dumb is that? The unit also travels in some random, illogical pattern, never actually reaching all areas of any room. The "virtual wall" units also drain their respective batteries dry far too quickly, and the Roomba also does the dumbest thing: it pushes its own docking station around, leaving it unable to dock and recharge.

And did I mention that this device is dumb?

SAVE YOUR MONEY.

Just opt for a vacuum cleaner, a swivel sweeper or a regular broom instead. You'll spend more time and effort, but you'll be far happier with the results.

i bought a roomba red at a local auction for a whopping $5 and the only reason it went for that much is because the way they had the boxes set up you couldnt tell what it was so i wound up with it... its ok but the battery has been replaced once and im about to have to do it again but thats ok ...

i found that if you google "roomba battery" you can get a generic one that is just as good as the original but WAAAAYYYY cheaper but anyway hope this helps someone ... :roll
